Delete your account

How to permanently delete your SandDune account and everything in it.

All documentation articles

You can request deletion of your account and its data at any time. Deletion is permanent — please read this page fully before asking.

Before you delete

  1. Export your data — the zip takes seconds and is your last chance to keep your transcriptions.
  2. Download any photos you want from their notes in the viewer (originals aren't in the export zip yet).
  3. Remember: your handwritten originals are still in your notebooks. Deleting SandDune deletes the digital twin, not your journal.

How to delete

Email support@sanddune.ai from your account's email address with the subject "Delete my account". Sending from the account email is how we verify it's really you. If you have an active subscription, mention it so we make sure it's stopped as part of the deletion.

There's no self-serve delete button in Settings yet — deletion goes through us directly.

What gets deleted

Your note photos (from all storage), transcriptions and their history, notebooks and covers, Timelines and nodes, AI processing records, statistics, artifacts, and your account itself. Per the Privacy Policy, some limited information may be retained where legally required (e.g., records of past payments).

What deletion doesn't do

  • It doesn't refund the current billing period (see Refunds) — though it does end any future charges.
  • It can't be undone. We can't restore a deleted archive, which is exactly the property you want from deletion.

If what you actually want is to stop paying but keep your archive, you want cancellation, not deletion — cancelling moves you to the Free plan with everything intact.
