Note Viewer

The full-screen home of a single page — zoom, swipe, read, edit, star, download, delete.

What it is

The Note Viewer is where a note is read: your handwritten page, full screen, with the digital layer one tap away. It behaves like a photo viewer because that's what your hands already know — pinch, swipe, double-tap.

Why it matters

The handwritten page is the first-class object in SandDune, not an attachment. The viewer is designed so the page fills the screen and the interface gets out of the way — controls fade after a few seconds, leaving ink.

How to use it

Tap any note on the dashboard (or in a notebook, search result, or calendar day) to open it.

  • Navigate: swipe left/right between notes with photo-app physics. The set you swipe through is the set you came from — search results, a notebook, starred notes, or a calendar month (in calendar order).
  • Zoom: pinch or scroll-wheel; double-tap for 2×. Zoomed in, dragging past the page edge flows into a swipe to the next note.
  • Chrome: tap the image to show/hide the top bar and toolbar.
  • Transcription panel: first toolbar button — slides up the full text with a word count.
  • Live Highlights: second button — see Live Highlights.
  • Edit / Star / Download / Delete: the remaining toolbar actions. Download saves the original photo to your device.

Keyboard on desktop: / navigate, E edit, S star, H highlights, Escape backs out one layer at a time.

Tips

  • The position counter ("12 of 47") doubles as a match pill when you arrive from a search — tap it to flash the matching words on the page.
  • Deleting mid-swipe takes you to the neighboring note, so clearing out a bad photo doesn't eject you from your reading flow.

Current limitations

  • The viewer shows one page at a time — there's no side-by-side spread view.
  • Sharing from the viewer means downloading the image and sharing it with your device's tools; there's no direct share button on individual notes.
