What it is
A monthly calendar where each day shows a thumbnail of the page you wrote that day. It spans from your first note's month to today.
Why it matters
Journals are diaries of time, and time deserves a first-class view. The calendar is also the honest mirror of the month in progress — filled days and beige gaps — which quietly asks the only motivating question: will today get a page?
How to use it
- Open: tap the activity heatmap card on the dashboard.
- Browse: arrows or swipe to move between months.
- Read a day: tap a thumbnail to open that page in the viewer (swiping continues in calendar order). Days with several pages show a count badge and open a picker.
- Fill a day: tap any beige (empty, past) day to start a new note with that day's date already set — the natural backfill flow.
- Jump to the month's artifact: the share icon at the top opens that month's Monthly Artifact when it exists, and explains when it will otherwise.
Returning from a note drops you back on the same month with a soft ring marking the day you visited.
Tips
- Use empty-day creation to keep Date Written honest when uploading late — the page lands on the day the ink hit the paper.
- The calendar is the fastest way to spot missing days worth backfilling from your physical notebook.
Current limitations
- Browsing is bounded to months where you have notes (no scrolling into the empty past or the future).
- There's no year-at-a-glance view yet — the heatmap card covers the current month; Activity's stats cover the totals.
