AI transcription is good, but your handwriting is yours, and sometimes a word comes out wrong. In SandDune you are the editor-in-chief: every transcription is fully editable, and your corrections become the canonical text — used by search, Ask, exports, everything.
There are two ways to edit, depending on how big the fix is.
Fix one word, right on the page
Best for a misread word here and there.
- Open the note in the Note Viewer and turn on Live Highlights (the scan-lines button, or press
H). - Tap the handwritten word that's wrong. The transcribed word appears right on top of it, so you can compare at a glance.
- Tap ✎, retype the word, and tap ✓.
Even though you edited one word, the whole transcription updates — the fix flows through to search, Ask, and your exports. Word counts update instantly, and the box stays anchored to your handwriting. Clearing the text entirely deletes that word from the transcription (tap ✓ twice to confirm).
Occasionally a line's words can't be mapped individually and that line shows one full-line box instead. Tapping it shows the whole line with Copy and Edit — the edit opens in a bottom sheet, scoped to that line.
Edit the whole note
Best for bigger rewrites, or for changing the title, date, or notebooks.
- In the viewer, tap Edit (or press
E). - Change anything: Title, Date Written, Notebooks, or the full transcription text.
- Tap Save.
Good to know
- Editing text never uses your transcription allowance — only running a new transcription does.
- Changing Date Written moves the note on your calendar and in your activity stats, since those follow the date you wrote, not the date you uploaded.
- If you correct a word with Live Highlights, the highlight stays mapped to the right spot on the image. After very large full-text rewrites, some boxes may no longer line up — the transcription itself is always safe.
